Jeffrey Dean

Jeffrey Dean is an American computer scientist who joined Google in 1999. At Google he worked on the company's crawling, indexing, query serving and advertising systems, and co-designed infrastructure such as MapReduce, Bigtable, Spanner and TensorFlow. He led Google AI from 2018 to 2023 and served as Google's chief scientist from 2023 until he left the company in 2026 to co-found Discovery Loop. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Washington and is a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
